How To Easily Get Started In An Online Business
Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009If you search Google for “business opportunity“, then a Wikipedia article always seems to come out on top of the results. Now, what words of wisdom are delivered in that article?
In a nutshell, it boils down to something like this:
1. First: there is a need
2. Second: there is a possibility to fulfill that need
3. Third: there is a way to fulfill the need AND make a profit
If all three clauses are there, then you have a business opportunity!
You probably agree with me that this is nothing new really. People have always made money by providing a solution to a need of some sort. For example: I am a woodcutter and I happen to need an axe. How do I get an axe? Probably by buying one, unless I happen to be skilled both as a woodcutter AND a blacksmith.
How about that business opportunity — selling axes to wood cutters!
Do I need to be a blacksmith to sell axes? Of course not. I can buy the axes somewhere and re-sell them at a profit. It is called being a salesman. Many salesmen do get rich if they are good at what they’re doing.
Now what is the Internet, if not a terrific new distribution channel for all kinds of stuff? Thanks to the Internet, you can very quickly and easily get started selling things. And the best part is that you don’t even need to have your own inventory of products to sell them.
There is money to be made by simply helping others market their stuff. This is commonly referred to as being an “affiliate”. From each sale you send to the merchant you get paid some commissions.
What this means is you do not need to worry about inventory or customer support. It is indeed a great business opportunity if you do it right.
Also you can get into the affiliate business with hardly any investment. Actually, you don’t even need to set up a web site of your own to market products and services online. For example, you can set up a web page at such places as Squidoo.com.
OK, do you need to be a computer geek to do this? Definitely not! Do you know how to send an email? Well then you can surely set up a Squidoo web page. There is absolutely no programming required.
Did you know that there are people out there making millions by promoting other people’s stuff? I have peronally made many thousands of dollars that way. Companies like Amazon.com use the help of affiliates to market their products — indeed there are thousands of merchants and products to choose from.
